Free-motion quilting: this process may include meandering, loops, swirls,
hearts, stars and many other informal, free-motion patterns. Usually the most economical
way of finishing your quilt.
|
|
Edge-to-edge quilting: this is a continuous-line design that covers the entire
quilt, regardless of the patchwork pattern, borders or sashing. The pattern is repeated
several times across each row. This type of quilting is economical and quite durable
for quilts that will be loved and used.

|
Custom quilting: we will work closely with you to develop just the right
quilting design for your top, based on the design of your blocks, sashing and borders.
Multiple designs might be used, as well as close stippling, feathers, echo quilting,
stitch-in-the-ditch, crosshatching or outlining.

Machine basting: this service eliminates the tedious hand-basting process
that most quilters go through. We quickly baste the three quilt layers together,
usually about 4” apart.
Thread: We use high-quality
Superior™ polyester or cotton thread in all of our production quilts.
Choose from hundreds of gorgeous colors, including a wide selection of variegated
threads.
Backing: You may provide your own backing (no bedsheets, please!) or we can
special-order extra-wide backing to enhance your quilt top. See our “Quilt Preparation
Guidelines” for further information.
Batting: We recommend high-quality
Hobbs™ batting. Our favorite is an 80% cotton, 20% polyester batting,
and it quilts up nicely, for an "antique" look after laundering. We can
also supply a beautiful Hobbs PolyDown Plus 100% polyester batting. Other high-quality
batting may be special-ordered, or you may provide your own batting. However, please
do not expect us to use low-quality batting – neither of us will be happy with the
finished quilt!
Binding: Should you desire, we can complete your quilt with a quality binding
process. Solid color binding is available, or you can provide fabric for binding
to match your quilt top or backing.
